Passport Description: The Devils Postpile formation is a rare sight in the geologic world and ranks as one of the world's finest examples of columnar basalt. Its columns tower 60 feet high and display an unusual symmetry.

Passport Description: This nearly vertical monolith rises 1,267 feet above the meandering Belle Fourche River. Once hidden below the earth's surface, Devils Tower has been revealed by erosion stripping away the softer rock layers. The tower is a sacred site of worship for many American Indians.

Passport Description: The fossils here were discovered in 1909 by paleontologist Earl Douglass, who knew that some of the rocks in northeastern Utah were the same kind that hat produced dinosaur skeletons elsewhere. The rock layer containing more than 1,500 fossil bones forms one wall of the Quarry Visitor Center.
